Not the efforts but thorough knowledge of the subject brings the result.

Tukram in his following abhanga shows by giving precedents that studying a subject well and acquiring the thorough knowledge of that subject is the key behind getting the desired outcome.

Meaning:

Tuka says there is a poisonous plant called Bachnag found in India. Some people confound the audience by consuming the poison obtained from it and leave them wondering. He says those who witness this very act finds it difficult even to watch this sight and close their eyes in fear.

In another example Tuka says some people catch hold the Cobra by his neck so adeptly that spectator quiver with fear watching this whole scene. They even feel scared at the very thought of doing it.

Tuka says one off course needs good efforts and continual practice to achieve this unthinkable however he says before putting in an efforts one should gather all the possible information about the subject to go about it. He says impossible becomes possible due to thorough knowledge of the subject that helps get the desired outcome.

Treating everyone equally is the best way to serve God.

Tukaram in his following abhanga says that the one who realises and comprehend in what lies humanity is said to have understood the true religion and he is a real human being.

Meaning:

Tuka says this entire world and every part and parcel of it is filled with God and it's very existence. He says it’s not only a huge mistake but grave offence to discriminate among its elements and creations such as human being.

Tuka asks people to pay heed to what religious book called Bhagwat has to offer. He asks us to understand and contemplate its teachings and use it in favour of human welfare. Tuka says everyone should be treated equally with love and honour and asks us to quit envying each other at once. He says that this is the best of all ways to serve God.

Tuka says the way whole body pains and becomes restless owing to small injury to one of its organs, in same way God feel anguished and offended when one tries to cause harm to any of its living and non-living elements.

Sometimes a disciple too can serve a purpose of God.

Tukaram in his following abhanga illustrates that not only a glimpse of God but glimpse of His disciple too helps relieve beholders and alleviate their worries.

Meaning:

Tuka says when we sow good and superior quality seeds, it breeds a tree of high quality. He says one will relish the taste of fruits of such trees which are juicy and luscious that will help satisfy ones senses.

Similarly Tuka says one who is continually in the service of God and incessantly chant His name transform into a being with pure and guileless mind. He says even a glimpse of such disciple gives off the beholders peace of mind and soul and helps alleviate all their worries and pain.

Even a noble act in lack of right intentions contributes to unrighteousness.

Tukaram in his following abhanga shows that there exist kinds of people who carry out noble and commendable things unfortunately all for wrong reasons contributing to unrighteousness.

Meaning:

Tuka says people carrying out Big Yajnas(Puja) offer into it grains of Rice and Black Sesame as a token towards their sensual desire and frenzies which implies one set these things to ablaze to be reduced to ashes however mostly found these things remain intact or as it is even after carrying of number of such Pujas.

Tuka asks people why they have invented such long and complex methods of worshipping God under the name of rituals over simple and sober way to remember and adore Him by heart.

Tuka says these people study Ved and Puranas not to increase their knowledge but to boost their egos. They pay visits to holy places and go on pilgrimage just to show off and offer donations just to raise their significance in the society.

Tuka resents these people and their act and says that in lack of right intentions even if one carry out noble and righteous things would undeniably contribute to unrighteousness.

Nothing can prevent death from taking its toll.

Tukaram in his following abhanga shows one's complete incapability to avert certain and inevitable death to take its toll on you.

Meaning:
Tuka says even if one makes powerful and mighty friends, their power will not help them at the time of departure. Even if one made lot of money, death will not spare them when time comes. Tuka says one would even notice that their family members and relatives would become complete helpless and incapable when death will take its toll on them. And even if one deploys military men to protect themselves, would be to no avail.

Tuka says death is inevitable and you can do only one thing that is to ease your death when it will appear around the corner. And that is chanting His name. Tuka says it will not only ease but will also make one free from the fear of death. However if you fail to do this, the Yama, the God of Death, will show you horrible end.

Tuka says further if you have fortunately been able to save yourself from some dreadful situations so far, it does not mean that you have become powerful than your fate. He says it simply means that your time to take exit hasn’t arrived yet. Hence Tuka says be wise and act sane and start chanting His name as soon as possible and help escape yourself once and for all from the unending loop of life and death.

5.Abhanga

Life is a paradox.

Tukaram in his following abhanga shows us life's conflicting nature and asks us to get rid of an unending loop of life and death.

Meaning:
Tuka says one always feels life's happy and jovial moments are short lived and that of sad and unpleasant moments persist.  Hence he asks if this is always the case, why not imbibe the saints teachings for the betterment and welfare of the life.

Tuka says human being spends half of the time from his average life span of 100 years in sleep. He says another 12 years waste in childhood, next 10-15 years get occupied in buoyant youth and the rest of the years go off in unwanted and ailing old age.

Tuka says with respect to above concept every human being seems to fritter away his/her efforts in achieving life's petty things.

Tuka says if one do not understand the life's main objective and fail to strive for it, he is said to have dissipated his/her life like some reckless person and thereby gets caught up in an unending loop of life and death.

6.Abhanga

Tukaram in his following abhanga shows us the best way of all to reach God and asks us to refrain oneself from conventional ways of accomplishing this very thing.

Meaning:
Tuka says one neither needs to play out some tricks nor requires any prop to reach God. He says God's requirement is very little and can be fulfilled by chanting His name by heart.

Tuka says in this era of Kaliyuga(Age of Downfall), if one incessantly chant His name, its more than enough, in fact it’s the one and only way by which one will get and feel very close to Him and help experience Him.

Tuka says there is no need of leaving one's business and abandon one's home for the sake of attaining spirituality. Or even no need of living in jungle and daub the ash all over the body. He says that in fact chanting is the best way of all and carrying out others things to accomplish very purpose is not only needed but also proved to be useless.

Offer a prayer in a way that guarantees real satisfaction.

Tukaram in his following abhanga shows us the authentic way to offer a prayer to God ensuing real satisfaction and likes us to stick to it.

Meaning:
Tuka says when one feels like offering his prayers to God, just lovingly remember Him in the heart as it is the best way to go about it. He says the God to whom you want to convey your prayer, is fully capable of comprehending devotee's innermost entreaty.

Therefore to reach Him one does not need to put up any kind of display or exhibit rituals to show off their devotion.

Tuka says too much of anything is either good or bad. So he asks us to follow the strategy of keeping it simple. As he says devotee's genuineness in the prayer will decide the type of reward he will reap from performing Puja as the rituals and its grandness hold no significance.

Hence Tuka says always do the praying or perform Puja in a way that can bring one a real satisfaction and peace of mind.
